I got notified this morning of a sync music TV placment on latest series (Season 7) of The Great Australian Bake Off. Thanks so much to @primerchordmusic Amara Primero. What an incredibly quality and entertaining show to be a part of!!
With 2025 being more of a year of reflection for me, rather than getting on with my work, I thought I'd start watching the show and have a listen and see if i could hear any of my music. And about 37 mins into episode one "Cake Week" there it was- my "Tasty Task" track. A happy mallet style track which suited the tone of a couple of contestents meringue cake efforts.
I always thought these style of tracks were something that would be beyond me- the gorgeous tight clean staccato strings, the beautiful glistening and rounded mallets and all of that magic that is embodied in the (very strong and present) soundtracks for this style of series. But i scored a dark magic indie film afew years ago and that opened me up and immersed me into the magical world of mallets, pizzi strings, bells, clocks and all of that goodness. I was forced to learn it and when i got the opportunity to then write music to match this style all of a sudden i found it was something that i was more than comfortable with and also enjoyed it a ton!
THe sounds in these tracks are super important and one of the VSTs i leaned into was the Project Sam "Lumina" software - and the story sounds of "Fairy Dust" really added some gorgeous chimes/celesta and harp layers into this track.
It was nice to take the time and relive this track too and I will probably do a short video as well to add afew of my thoughts.
